Julie Knorr

Julie Knorr

Julie retired as a botanist after a 33 year career with the U.S.D.A. Forest Service on the Klamath National Forest. She grew up in Colorado where she gained a lifelong love of the mountains from her biologist parents. In 1978, after receiving a B.S. in botany from University of California at Davis, she started work on the Klamath N.F. During her career as a botanist, she worked primarily in the areas of rare plant protection, vascular plant and lichen monitoring, habitat restoration, and environmental interpretation. Post retirement, she has continued to do volunteer and contract surveys for the Klamath National Forest, primarily in the Marble Mountain, Russian, and Trinity Alps Wilderness areas. She lives along the Scott River with her partner, Marsha, in the shadows of the Marble Mountain Wilderness Area in Siskiyou County, California. She now spends much of her time viewing the world from a bicycle.
